The long winter is finally over, and spring has finally arrived in Sapporo.
まだまだ肌寒い札幌ですが、桜の開花宣言があるといよいよ春だなと実感が湧きます♪
ここから1週間かけて満開になっていき、GWくらいまでが咲き見頃となり、お勧めのスポットのご紹介をします。
It’s still a bit chilly here in Sapporo, but once the cherry blossoms are officially declared in bloom, it really feels like spring has arrived♪
They’ll reach full bloom over the next week or so, and the best time to see them will be around Golden Week. Here are some recommended spots to visit.
まず王道で外さないのは円山公園＋北海道神宮ですね。
エゾヤマザクラやソメイヨシノが一気に咲いて、お花見の定番とも言える場所です。
屋台も出ることが多くて、いわゆる「THE 花見」感があります。
First off, you can’t go wrong with Maruyama Park and Hokkaido Shrine.
With Ezo cherry blossoms and Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms blooming all at once, it’s a classic spot for hanami.
There are often food stalls set up, giving it that quintessential “hanami” vibe.

ゆったり落ち着いて見たいなら中島公園がお勧めです。
池と桜の組み合わせがきれいで、人は多いけど円山よりは少し静かなので、写真も撮りやすいです。
夜にはライトアップされる夜桜もあり、ロマンチックな雰囲気を味わえるのも素敵なスポットです。
If you’re looking for a relaxed and peaceful setting, Nakajima Park is highly recommended.
The combination of the pond and cherry blossoms is beautiful, and while it can get crowded, it’s a bit quieter than Maruyama Park, making it easier to take photos.
At night, the cherry blossoms are illuminated, creating a romantic atmosphere that makes this a wonderful spot to visit.

スケール感でいくならモエレ沼公園に行ってみてください。
ガラスのピラミッドと桜の組み合わせが独特で、開放感がすごいです。
ピクニックにも向いてますよ。
If you’re looking for a sense of scale, you should definitely visit Moerenuma Park.
The combination of the glass pyramid and the cherry blossoms is truly unique, and the sense of openness is incredible.
It’s also a great spot for a picnic.

穴場寄りでおすすめなのは新川さくら並木。
川沿いにずーっと桜が続くので、散歩しながら見るのに最高です。観光客は少なめで地元感強いです。

A hidden gem I highly recommend is the Shinkawa Cherry Blossom Avenue.
Cherry blossoms line the river for miles, making it the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll. There aren’t many tourists, so it has a strong local vibe.

ちょっと足を伸ばせるなら前田森林公園もいいです。
並木と水路の直線が美しくて、桜の時期はかなり映えます。
If you’re willing to go a little further, Maeda Forest Park is also a great option.
The straight lines of the tree-lined paths and waterways are beautiful, and the park really comes into its own during cherry blossom season.

① 新川さくら並木 Shinkawa Cherry Blossom Avenue
先ほども紹介しましたが、穴場の中ではかなりお勧めです。
川沿いに何キロも桜が続くのに、観光客がほぼ来ない穴場。
散歩しながらゆっくり見たい人にはかなり良いです。
車でもアクセスしやすいのがやはり良いポイントです。
As I mentioned earlier, this is one of the best hidden gems I can recommend.
It’s a hidden gem where cherry blossoms stretch for miles along the river, yet hardly any tourists come.
It’s perfect for those who want to take their time and enjoy the view while strolling.
Another great thing is that it’s easy to get to by car.
② 天神山緑地（豊平区）Tenjinyama Park (Toyohira)
小さめの公園ですが高台で景色が良く、桜も意外としっかり見れます。
地元の人中心で静かなのもお勧めで、ベンチでのんびりできる場所です。
It’s a small park, but it’s located on a hill with great views, and you can actually see the cherry blossoms quite well.
I also recommend it because it’s quiet and mostly frequented by locals—it’s a great place to relax on a bench.

③ 旭山記念公園 Asahiyama Memorial Park
夜景スポットで有名ですが、桜もきれいなのでダブルでお勧めです。
円山エリアより人が分散するので、同じ時期でも少し落ち着いて見られます。
It’s famous for its night views, but the cherry blossoms are beautiful too, so I highly recommend visiting for both.
Since the crowds are spread out more than in the Maruyama area, you can enjoy the scenery in a slightly more relaxed atmosphere even during the peak season.
④ 農試公園（西区）Agricultural Experiment Station Park (West）
広くて家族連れが多い＝逆に宴会感が少なくて平和です。
遊具もあるので子ども連れならかなり使いやすい穴場となっています。
昔からある地元では有名な公園なので、ファミリーにとてもお勧めですね。
It’s spacious and popular with families, which actually makes it feel less like a party and more peaceful.
With playground equipment available, it’s a hidden gem that’s very family-friendly.
Since it’s a long-standing, well-known local park, I highly recommend it for families.

⑤ 発寒川緑地 Hassam River Greenbelt
ここも川沿いにあり、ゆるく桜が続く場所です。
人がバラけるので混雑ストレスがほぼないです。
穴場中の穴場かもしれません。
This spot is also located along the river, with a gentle row of cherry blossoms stretching out.
Since people tend to spread out, there’s almost no stress from the crowds.
It might just be the ultimate hidden gem.
